Photo 52: A Play on Light / Color of Light [1] – Blue/Cool Temperature

Today starts a new month for Project Light, and for this month we will be focusing on the color of light.  All light possesses color (white sunlight actually consists of all colors).  While our eyes can automatically compensate to see colors correctly under different lighting conditions, the camera cannot and captures a light’s true color  unless it is corrected (or manipulated) by the photographer.  Color can also be enhanced in post processing to enhance a mood.  For this month, we will be moving through the colors of the rainbow starting this week with the cooler tones of blue, indigo and violet.

I played tourist last week when friends were in town and went to the Top of the Rock, the observation deck at the top of Rockefeller Center, for the first time.  When I walked through this hall in the center of the deck, this vibrant display of flashing blue light caught my eye.We went outside to take in the view…

And what a glorious view it was (thank you Supreme Court)!  These are not blue but I just had to share.

Please go around the circle to see other creative interpretations of the theme, most of which are probably less literal than my own!  Next up is the talented, Brooklyn-based Kelly Roth Patton of K. Rox Photography.
